This is our story...

Founded in 2017, brothers Nathaniel and Robby King pulled from punk, indie, alternative, and funk influences to create a sound that's familiar yet fresh to the indie rock scene. The equation was simple: Robby brings tasty licks and vocals, while Nathaniel holds down the beat and adds backup vocals.
The group made their first live debut performance at the 2017 Fall University of Pittsburgh Battle of the Bands event (it was horrible), then continued to stomp around South Oakland basement shows for a much preferred gritty and raw environment. After playing Yinzfest 2018, the group made their way to small venues and bars on the Southside. While building a following of college mates and friends-in-higher-bands, the boys began documenting their adventures through silly vlogs and un-polished basement session demos.
In the summer of 2019, the band participated in Yinzfest 2019 as well as endured a few lineup changes. Towards the end of that fateful summer, bassist Chaz Donnelly joined to breathe new life to the group. Since then, Mellowscape has bounced from practice space to practice space, before settling at a great new studio in early 2021. Around the same time, the band brushed off some rust and got back into doing some live shows, including the 2021 Millvale Music Festival.

In August of 2021, Basements was released. This DIY album is the results of years of killer song writing, hours of DIY recording, and long nights of self-editing. Found on all streaming services, Basements embodies the gritty, homegrown sound that is found at basement shows throughout PIttsburgh. Since the release, the mellow boys have continued to work on new music, play shows, and goofy videos.

Although none of the group is originally from Pittsburgh, the trio proudly bears the 412 pin. Check 'em out on social media, YouTube, and Soundcloud to keep up with the music!
